Where? Accommodation? - We have booked exclusive use of the Bay House Hotel.
- We may have to spill over into the many nearby hotels and self-catering accommodation.
Itinerary?
- Friday 18th May:
- Arrive in the evening but no particular scheduled activities.
- Saturday 19th May:
- Rehearse from 10am to 12:30pm then 2pm to 5pm.
- Meal for all in hotel in the evening.
- Sunday 20th May:
- Free time in the morning
- Short rehearsal at 1pm
- Performance at 3pm
- Leave on ~1800 ferry back to Blighty!
Programme? - Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with Rachel Ellis.
- Vaughan Williams, movements 2 and 3 of the London Symphony.
- Some Mock Morris!
Organised social event? - Meal together in the hotel on Saturday evening!
Cost? - £100 to £120 for two nights’ accommodation and Saturday evening meal.
- This might vary if you share a room or want a double room to yourself!
- Estimated travel cost:
- Car ferry + 4 passengers = £60 (£15 each)
- Train + ferry + train = £45
Travel? - The cheapest way to get there is to fill up a car! Currently ferry fair is £68 return. It will increase if you book late.
- Route: Portsmouth to Fishbourne (www.wightlink.co.uk). You could also take the train and passenger ferry (Portsmouth to Ryde) then IoW train to Shanklin.
- We suggest booking the 1800 ferry for both the outward and return journeys. You can make one change per booking, so if you miss the boat, you will be put on the next slot available without additional charge.
- Approximate timings:
- Horsham to Portsmouth: 90 minutes.
- Check in 30 minutes before sailing.
- Sailing time: 40 minutes.
- Ferry to Hotel: 30 minutes drive.

Other? - £50 deposits paid by all; balance to be paid no later than Wednesday 21st March.
- HSO are not providing travel insurance. If you cannot travel, HSO will not be able to provide refunds. Sorry!
- We have been on the local radio, and hope to have some players from the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra
