We are a dynamic amateur orchestra based in Horsham, West Sussex, drawing in talented musicians from the surrounding area. We love performing the classics of the orchestral repertoire as much as music that challenges both us and our audience.
Serious work also needs to be fun and we enjoy a lot of laughs as we rehearse forming a happy community of fellow musicians. We love to work with young soloists and we look out for talent coming up through local schools and universities who bring a fresh approach to performances.
We're not afraid of taking on works that are normally only played by professional orchestras. One of our recent and most successful concerts was performing Mahler's 2nd Symphony at The Hawth in Crawley to a packed audience. It's a mammoth, challenging work involving a large choir as well as a huge orchestra and we pulled it off with aplomb - there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Read the full review here.
Our ethos is very much about being part of a team - attending all rehearsals and practising at home so that we all get the most out of performing together. Symphony orchestras require a lot of players and we currently have space for more musicians, so we would love to hear from anyone interested in membership.
