Adopt a Composer

The HSO was delighted to have been chosen for the 2016/2017 Adopt a Composer scheme. The scheme pairs an amateur ensemble with an emerging composer, with the composer working on a new piece specifically for the group over the year. We were fortunate to work with the enormously talented Adriano Adewale who wrote SUITE DIALOGUES for us which was premiered in July 2017.

In 2019 we commissioned Adriano to write a Percussion Concerto, with funds from HSO Friends and supporters through our GoFundMeaConcerto crowdfunding campaign ad support from PRS for Music Foundation. We were delighted to give the world premiere with the composer as soloist to a capacity audience at The Capitol on 29 June 2019.
